Course Details - Hole Information
Hole 1 & 10: Pine Valley Hole 2 & 11: St. Anne’s Hole 3 & 12: Merion
A straightforward loosener with a testing approach shot to a slightly elevated green. Bunkers catch wayward shots to the right front. Right-side misses may go out-of-bounds. Straight ahead shot to a two-tier green. Any left-side miss is punished by pine trees, making the second shot difficult. A fairway pond challenges a good driveable length. Tempting for long hitters, but a trap for the unwary.
Hole 4 & 13: Gleneagles Hole 5 & 14: Sunningdale Hole 6 & 15: Carnoustie
A short par 4 with premium on accuracy. A challenging par 3 for the men and a short par 4 for the ladies. A delightful par 3 over a pond, but not as easy as it looks — particularly tough in a crosswind.
Hole 7 & 16: Pinehurst Hole 8 & 17: Oakmont Hole 9 & 18: Muirfield
A dogleg — keep left of the fairway or right of the bunkers for the big hitters. Another dogleg requiring a solid tee shot. Avoid the right side to set up an easier approach. A picturesque dogleg protected by trees and out-of-bounds on both sides. A straight-forward iron shot puts you in a good position to attack the green.
